Map and Directions
Following Route 3 from Ellsworth to Bar Harbor, Church of Our Father is located on the left, 7 miles from the traffic light, after coming on to MT. Desert Island.
From 95 North or South:
Take Route 95 to Bangor Exit 182A (formerly Exit 45A). This puts you on 395, which you take to the end, then follow Route 1A to Ellsworth (18 miles). Once you reach Ellsworth, the first set of lights will be at the intersection of Main Street and High Street (St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on the left). At that intersection, Route 1A becomes Route 3 and High Street. Go straight through the intersection. The second set of lights is at the Shaw’s shopping center and the third set of lights is at the intersection of Route 3 and Route 1. Do NOT turn left onto Route 1. Go straight through the intersection, staying on Route 3 (McDonald’s is on the right.) At this point, you will be heading out if town and High Street becomes the Bar Harbor Road. Before reaching Mt. Desert Island, you will go through Trenton, most easily recognized by its many lobster pounds, gift shops and the Bar Harbor Airport. From Trenton, Route 3 crosses a short bridge onto Mount Desert Island. Once on the island, the road forks at the Parkadia Store. Bear left on Route 3. The Church of Our Father is approximately 7 miles further on the left just before you reach Hulls Cove.
The Scenic Route:
Take Route 95 to Exit 112 (formerly Exit 30) at Augusta. You will be on Western Avenue (Route 202). Follow Route 202 to the traffic circle. Once in the rotary, take the second right to cross the river. Continue to the next rotary, turning at the third right (Routes 201, 100, 202 and Riverside Drive). Follow this road until you see signs for Route 3 and Belfast. Turn right onto Route 3. Follow Route 3 through South China to Belfast. At the McDonald’s in Belfast, turn left going through the underpass onto Routes 1 and 3. Stay on this road through Searsport and into Bucksport. Turn right after crossing bridge into Bucksport and follow signs to Ellsworth. Enter Ellsworth on Main Street continuing through one set of lights (just after crossing bridge and Water Street) on up to High Street, where you turn right. Follow above directions from Ellsworth.
